Serie A: Inter Milan vs Juventus Live

Preview

In Serie A’s highly anticipated Saturday night match, the top two teams in Italy, Inter Milan and Juventus, will face off in the eagerly awaited Derby d’Italia at San Siro. Inter currently leads Juventus by one point in the standings and also has one game in hand.

Before a crucial match that could have a significant impact on the Italian title race, Inter Milan is in excellent form, having won five consecutive games, including two in Saudi Arabia where they successfully defended the Supercoppa Italiana, to kick off 2024. The last time the Nerazzurri won their first six games of a calendar year was 17 years ago, but they now have the opportunity to achieve that again by defeating their fierce rivals in the 248th Derby d’Italia.

Simone Inzaghi’s team has scored in all 21 of their top-flight matches this season, and if they continue their scoring streak after last week’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina, they would become only the second club ever to score in 22 consecutive games from the start of a Serie A season, alongside Juventus.

Despite their old rivals’ recent resurgence, Inter, who secured a third consecutive Supercoppa by defeating Napoli last month, have had the upper hand in recent cup clashes with Juventus and are still considered the favorites to win the league by most experts. It seems that a two-way battle for the Scudetto is unfolding, with only AC Milan within reach of the two main contenders but already trailing by a significant margin. Therefore, the stakes could not be much higher for the upcoming match on Sunday evening.

In the previous match in November, Juventus and Inter drew 1-1 with goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Lautaro Martinez. This left Juventus with seven points from their last three league meetings with Inter. A win in their upcoming match in Milan would move them above Inter in the Serie A standings. Juventus has been in good form, with 53 points so far and seven wins in their last eight games. Despite dropping points in a recent draw with Empoli, they are confident of achieving a positive result. Coach Max Allegri is close to reaching 1000 points in Serie A, and a win in the upcoming match could help them secure the top spot in the league.

Head-to-head

These two teams played against each other over a month ago in the opposite fixture. They drew 1-1 at Allianz Stadium in Turin. Inter Milan have only won 10 out of their last 36 home matches against the Bianconeri.

Prediction

Inter and Juventus have the highest number of clean sheets in Serie A this season, as well as the fewest shots on target and goals conceded. After a tense draw in their previous match, they could potentially draw both league fixtures for the first time since 2002, so caution will be a priority at San Siro.
