NBA Roundup: Trae Young scores 45 to lead the Hawks past the Spurs

Trae Young scored a season-best 45 points and provided 14 assists, while Dejounte Murray contributed 24 points as the Atlanta Hawks secured a 137-135 win over the struggling San Antonio Spurs on Thursday.

Bogdan Bogdanovic contributed 14 points coming off the bench for the Hawks, while Saddiq Bey scored 13, and De’Andre Hunter and Clint Capela each scored 12 to help Trae Young. Jeremy Sochan achieved a career-high of 33 points for the Spurs, who have lost 13 consecutive games and ended November with a 1-13 record.

Vassell scored 25 points, Keldon Johnson added 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Victor Wembanyama accumulated 21 points, 12 rebounds, and four blocks for San Antonio. The Spurs held a 15-point lead in the first quarter, a 12-point lead in the third, and an eight-point lead in the fourth. The Hawks secured the lead for good with two free throws from Trae Young with 3:22 remaining.

Rudy Gobert recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Simone Fontecchio led Utah with 16 points, but they were missing Lauri Markkanen due to a hamstring strain. Collin Sexton scored 14 points and Ochai Agbaji added 13. Utah has now lost two consecutive games and six of their last eight.

Hornets 129, Nets 128

Terry Rozier scored 37 points, his highest of the season, and made a crucial 3-pointer with 2:38 left to lead Charlotte to a victory over Brooklyn in New York. Despite the absence of LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller due to ankle injuries, the Hornets achieved their highest point total of the season and made a season-best 21 3-pointers.

Rozier made seven of those 3-pointers, including two important ones in the final three minutes. Miles Bridges contributed 23 points, and Gordon Hayward added 22. Cam Thomas returned from an eight-game absence due to an ankle sprain and scored 26 points, but the Nets’ three-game winning streak came to an end. Bridges also scored 22 points, and Nic Claxton recorded 20 points and 14 rebounds.

Knicks 118, Pistons 112

Jalen Brunson led the scoring with 42 points, while Julius Randle contributed 29 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists as New York bounced back from surrendering a 16-point lead to defeat Detroit, who suffered their 16th consecutive loss. Cade Cunningham scored 31 points for Detroit, with 18 of those coming in the first half, and Killian Hayes added 23 points. Marcus Sasser also contributed 17 points.

Jimmy Butler matched his season best with 36 points in a comeback win for Miami against Indiana. The Heat suffered a setback when their two-time All-Star center Bam Adebayo exited the game in the second quarter due to a worsened hip injury. Butler drew a season-high 12 fouls and converted 18 of 20 free throws. He also made 9 of 18 field goals as Miami ended a three-game losing streak. Additionally, rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr. contributed 24 points for the Heat. Despite Tyrese Haliburton’s career-high 44 points, along with 10 assists, three steals, and one block, Indiana still fell short. Obi Toppin also scored 25 points on 10-of-15 shooting.

Warriors 120, Clippers 114

Stephen Curry scored the most points for the team with 26, while Jonathan Kuminga’s strong performance off the bench with 17 points made a significant impact as short-handed Golden State defeated Los Angeles in San Francisco. Despite playing without injured players Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, and Gary Payton II, the Warriors secured their third consecutive home win with a well-rounded offensive effort.

Klay Thompson contributed 22 points, and Curry also tallied eight assists and seven rebounds. Kawhi Leonard scored 23 points, Ivica Zubac recorded 18 points and 13 rebounds, and James Harden also added 18 points for the Clippers, who had won the previous night against Sacramento.

Trail Blazers 103, Cavaliers 95

Cleveland’s top scorers were Donovan Mitchell with 23 points, Evan Mobley with 20 points, Darius Garland with 15 points, and Jarrett Allen with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
