NBA Roundup: Steph Curry helps Warriors hold off Nets

Steph Curry contributed 16 of his 37 points in the final quarter to help the Golden State Warriors secure a crucial 124-120 NBA win against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday.

Steph Curry went 7 for 7 in the final quarter, and Klay Thompson hit two crucial three-pointers in the last four minutes as the Warriors, who had been ahead by as much as 18 points, managed to avoid a second-half collapse and break their three-game losing streak. Cam Thomas scored 41 points and Spencer Dinwiddie added 16 for the Nets, who took their first lead since the first quarter on Mikal Bridges’ three-pointer with 9:12 left in the fourth quarter.

After a tense back-and-forth, a layup by Curry put the Warriors ahead by one with 6:46 remaining, and they held onto the lead for the rest of the game. This victory was a morale booster for the struggling Warriors, who have had difficulty maintaining leads and are still dealing with the indefinite suspension of their star player, Draymond Green, following an on-court incident with Phoenix’s Jusuf Nurkic.

In Denver, the reigning champion Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokic, were unable to fend off the Oklahoma City Thunder, who secured a 118-117 victory with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s turnaround jump shot with 1.4 seconds left. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 25 points, Jalen Williams contributed 24, and rookie Chet Holmgren recorded 17 points, 11 rebounds, and nine blocked shots for the Thunder. Jokic tallied 24 points and 12 assists for the Nuggets, who held an eight-point lead with 3:33 remaining but suffered just their second home loss of the season.

Sacramento Kings 125, Utah Jazz 104

Keegan Murray had a standout performance in Sacramento, hitting 12 three-pointers and scoring 47 points in the Kings’ 125-104 win against the Utah Jazz. He came close to breaking the NBA single-game record for three-pointers, set by Warriors star Thompson. Murray made 11 consecutive three-pointers, but missed his last two attempts.

Minnesota Timberwolves 127, Indiana Pacers 109

In Minneapolis, Karl-Anthony Towns achieved a season-best with 40 points and 12 rebounds, while Anthony Edwards contributed 37 points for the Minnesota Timberwolves in their 127-109 win against the Indiana Pacers.

Miami Heat 118, Chicago Bulls 116

Jimmy Butler was the standout player for Miami, hitting a step-back jump shot at the last second to secure a 118-116 win over the Chicago Bulls. Butler scored 28 points to lead the Heat, who were missing Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro due to injuries. DeMar DeRozan led the Bulls with 27 points, and Patrick Williams contributed 25 points in a closely contested game that saw four lead changes in the final quarter.

Dallas Mavericks 131, Portland Trail Blazers 120

In Portland, Luka Doncic scored 40 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out 10 assists to guide the Dallas Mavericks to a 131-120 victory against the Trail Blazers. Doncic achieved 30 points in the opening half and completed his fifth triple-double of the season in the third quarter.
