NBA Recap: Nikola Jokic leads Nuggets triumph over Warriors

Nikola Jokic made NBA history by achieving his third consecutive triple-double, while Jamal Murray scored 27 points to help the Nuggets come from behind and beat the Warriors for the seventh time in a row.

Nikola Jokic had an impressive performance with 32 points, 16 rebounds, and 16 assists, marking his third consecutive game with at least 14 points and 14 rebounds. Nikola Jokic also got help from Aaron Gordon who contributed with 17 points, six rebounds, and three steals for the Nuggets. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of the Nuggets effectively defended Stephen Curry, who scored 20 points for the Warriors despite struggling with his 3-point shots.

Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 23 points in the first half, including five 3-pointers, but did not score in the second half. Nikola Jokic contributed four of the Nuggets’ 10 steals, while Brandin Podziemski of the Warriors, who was playing on his 21st birthday, recorded six rebounds, four assists, and four points.

Pacers 133, Mavericks 111

Myles Turner had a standout performance, scoring a season-best 33 points and grabbing eight rebounds to help the Indiana Pacers secure a 133-111 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. Tyrese Haliburton contributed 17 points and 10 assists for the Pacers, who extended their winning streak to three games.

Andrew Nembhard and Ben Sheppard each scored 15 points for Indiana, with Bennedict Mathurin adding 14 points and 11 rebounds. Pascal Siakam and T.J. McConnell also chipped in with 12 points each. Luka Doncic led the scoring for Dallas with 33 points, while Kyrie Irving added 29. Josh Green scored 14 points for the Mavericks, whose seven-game winning streak came to an end. Tim Hardaway Jr. contributed 11 points coming off the bench.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 30 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and dished out nine assists to help Milwaukee defeat Philadelphia on the road. Damian Lillard also contributed with 24 points and nine assists, while Malik Beasley and Bobby Portis added 20 and 17 points respectively as the Bucks secured their second consecutive victory. Brook Lopez had 11 points, seven rebounds, and five blocks. Tyrese Maxey led the Sixers with 24 points, De’Anthony Melton scored 16, and Paul Reed had 13 points and eight rebounds. Kelly Oubre Jr. added 12 points and nine rebounds, and Buddy Hield chipped in with 11 points.

Thunder 123, Rockets 110

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the scoring with 36 points, while Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren combined for 51 points to help Oklahoma City come back from a 16-point deficit and defeat Houston. Gilgeous-Alexander also contributed five rebounds and seven assists, Williams scored 22 points, and Holmgren had 29 points, eight rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. Jabari Smith Jr. and Fred VanVleet each scored 20 points for the Rockets, with Smith grabbing 17 rebounds. Alperen Sengun added 19 points and 12 rebounds for Houston, but their 18 turnovers led to 23 points for Oklahoma City.

Suns 123, Lakers 113

Grayson Allen and Royce O’Neale made a total of 12 out of Phoenix’s 17 3-pointers in a game against Los Angeles. The Lakers closed the gap to 110-104, but Allen and O’Neale hit consecutive 3-pointers in the final minutes to secure the win for Phoenix. O’Neale’s last 3-pointer extended the Suns’ lead to 13 points, sealing the victory. All five Phoenix starters scored at least 18 points, with Allen leading the team with 24 points. LeBron James and Anthony Davis both had double-doubles for the Lakers, with James scoring 28 points and dishing out 12 assists, while Davis contributed 22 points and 14 rebounds.

Kings 123, Clippers 107

De’Aaron Fox reacted to a technical foul by finishing strong late in the game, while Domantas Sabonis achieved his 20th triple-double of the season as Sacramento capitalized on Paul George’s absence to defeat Los Angeles. Sabonis scored 17 points and led in rebounds with 15 and assists with 12, contributing to the Kings’ third consecutive victory. He became just the sixth player in NBA history to achieve at least 20 triple-doubles in a single season. Norman Powell scored 21 points, and Kawhi Leonard and James Harden each added 20 for the Clippers, who were missing George due to a sore left knee.

Bulls 114, Pelicans 106

Nikola Vucevic recorded a double-double and four of his teammates reached double-digit scoring as Chicago won against New Orleans on the road. Vucevic ended with 22 points and 13 rebounds, with DeMar DeRozan leading the game with 24 points for the Bulls, who ended a two-game losing streak. Brandon Ingram, back after missing two games due to illness, scored 22 points but only managed four in the second half, while Zion Williamson finished with 19 points as New Orleans suffered their second consecutive loss following a four-game winning streak.

Jazz 128, Spurs 109

Lauri Markkanen scored 26 points to help the Utah Jazz end a five-game losing streak with a dominant victory over San Antonio in Salt Lake City. Jordan Clarkson contributed 22 points and 10 assists, while John Collins added 20 points and eight rebounds as Utah secured their first win since Feb. 6. Devin Vassell led San Antonio with 27 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three blocks, but the Spurs suffered their fourth consecutive loss and 11th defeat in their last 12 games. Victor Wembanyama of San Antonio followed up his impressive 5×5 performance against the Los Angeles Lakers with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five blocked shots.
