Joel Embiid joined an exclusive group of NBA players by scoring 70 points in a single game, as the Philadelphia 76ers secured a 133-123 victory over the Spurs on Monday.

Joel Embiid, the current NBA Most Valuable Player, delivered an outstanding individual performance that led the 76ers to victory, overshadowing an impressive 33-point performance by Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama. Embiid’s remarkable stats included 70 points, 18 rebounds, and five assists, with a shooting percentage of 24-of-41 from the field and 21-of-23 from the free-throw line. This franchise-record performance placed him among an exclusive group of NBA stars who have scored 70 or more points in a single game, such as Wilt Chamberlain, David Robinson, David Thompson, Elgin Baylor, Kobe Bryant, Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, and Damian Lillard.

Additionally, Tyrese Maxey contributed 18 points for the Sixers, while Tobias Harris finished with 14, making them the only other Philadelphia players to reach double figures. Embiid’s exceptional performance propelled Philadelphia to their sixth consecutive victory, positioning them third in the Eastern Conference behind Boston and Milwaukee with a record of 29-13.

Hornets 128, Timberwolves 125

In Charlotte, Karl-Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves scored an impressive 62 points in a close 128-125 loss to the Hornets. Despite his outstanding performance, including 10 three-pointers, it wasn’t sufficient to stop Charlotte from securing a significant victory against the top team in the Western Conference. Miles Bridges led the scoring for Charlotte with 28 points, followed by Brandon Miller with 27.

Celtics 119, Mavericks 110

In Dallas, the Boston Celtics secured a 119-110 victory over the Mavericks with a strong performance from Jayson Tatum, who scored 38 points, and Jaylen Brown, who contributed 35 points. Despite Luka Doncic’s 33 points and Kyrie Irving’s 23 points for Dallas, they were unable to secure the win.

Cleveland 126, Magic 99

The Cleveland Cavaliers secured a start-to-finish victory against the Orlando Magic in Florida with a 126-99 win. Donovan Mitchell scored 25 points for the Cavs, but Sam Merrill stole the spotlight with 26 points off the bench, including eight three-pointers.
