NBA Recap: Celtics stage comeback to defeat Pistons in overtime

The Boston Celtics managed to come back from a 21-point disadvantage and improved their home record to 15-0 with a 128-122 overtime victory against the Pistons on Thursday night.

The Pistons set a new NBA record by losing their 28th consecutive game to the Celtics, marking the longest in-season losing streak in league history. If they lose to the Toronto Raptors on Saturday, they will match the all-time longest losing streak, spanning from one season to the next.

Kristaps Porzingis of the Celtics scored a season-high 35 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Jayson Tatum contributed 31 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. Cade Cunningham led the Pistons with 31 points and nine assists. Jaden Ivey scored 22 points and secured 10 rebounds, Jalen Duren added 15 points and 14 rebounds, and Bojan Bogdanovic contributed 17 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists for Detroit.

Nuggets 142, Grizzlies 105

Nikola Jokic achieved his 11th triple-double of the season with 26 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Jamal Murray scored 23 points and provided nine assists as Denver defeated Memphis. Peyton Watson had a career-best 20 points, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Julian Strawther each contributed 12 points for the Nuggets, who secured their sixth consecutive victory. Desmond Bane scored 23 points and Marcus Smart added 17 points for the Grizzlies, who were missing Ja Morant due to illness. Memphis had won all four games since Morant returned from a 25-game suspension at the start of the season.

Pelicans 112, Jazz 105

Brandon Ingram led the way with 26 points for the New Orleans Pelicans, who had three players scoring over 20 points in their victory over Utah. CJ McCollum contributed 22 points, while Zion Williamson recorded 21 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists. The Pelicans, who had lost three of their last four games, managed to hold off Utah. Collin Sexton scored 26 points and Lauri Markkanen had 24 points and 10 rebounds for the Jazz, whose three-game winning streak came to an end. Walker Kessler scored 11 points and Jordan Clarkson added 10 for Utah.

Pacers 120, Bulls 104

Myles Turner scored 24 points and Tyrese Haliburton contributed 21 points and 20 assists to help Indiana secure a victory over Chicago. Buddy Hield also added 19 points for the Pacers, while Jalen Smith, Bennedict Mathurin, and Aaron Nesmith each scored 15, 15, and 12 points respectively, creating a well-rounded offensive effort that allowed Indiana to pull ahead in the end despite squandering a 25-point lead. Patrick Williams led the Bulls with 22 points, followed by DeMar DeRozan with 21 points, White with 16 points, and Alex Caruso and Ayo Dosunmu with 15 points each.

Timberwolves 118, Mavericks 110

Anthony Edwards had his best scoring performance of the season with 44 points, leading Minnesota to a victory over Dallas in Minneapolis. Edwards hit six 3-pointers and matched the third-highest scoring output of his career as the Timberwolves secured their 12th win in 15 games.

Luka Doncic was absent for the second time in five games due to a quadriceps injury, while Kyrie Irving missed his 11th consecutive game with a heel issue. Rudy Gobert contributed 20 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots for Minnesota, which holds the second-best record in the NBA at 23-7. Tim Hardaway Jr. equaled his season high with 32 points, and Jaden Hardy added 17 for the Mavericks, who suffered their sixth loss in nine games.
