Premier League: Chelsea vs Burnley Live

Preview: Chelsea vs Burnley

Chelsea vs Burnley on Saturday at Stamford Bridge at 3:00pm will give the blues the chance to improve their hopes of qualifying for European competitions next season. This will be the first meeting between the two teams since Chelsea won 4-1 against Burnley at Turf Moor in October last year.

After the final international break of the Premier League season, the blues are now focusing on closing the gap to the European qualification spots. Despite securing a spot in the FA Cup semi-finals, their best chance of reaching the continental stage next season may involve climbing out of the bottom half of the table and into the top seven. Chelsea’s upcoming match against Burnley marks the beginning of their push up the standings. The blues have been dominant at Stamford Bridge recently in the premier league, winning five of their last six league games there, losing one, with four of those victories being by a one-goal margin.

Two weeks ago, Burnley seemed destined for relegation, but a 2-1 victory over Brentford and Nottingham Forest’s four-point deduction have made survival more likely, though still challenging. Despite being five points from safety, manager Vincent Kompany remains confident in his team’s ability to stay in the top division. Burnley’s recent away form has been poor, with five winless matches and multiple goals conceded in each game. However, they can draw inspiration from their last away win against Fulham in December.

Head-to-head

The blues have a strong record against Burnley, having not lost in their last ten encounters, winning eight and drawing two games.

Prediction

It will be a tough task for the clarets to silence the high-scoring Chelsea team, especially without their top performer Fofana. Despite their inconsistent form and defensive vulnerabilities, Chelsea are expected to be the strong favorites for the upcoming match on Saturday. A win against the clarets could set them up nicely for their crucial game against Manchester United the following week as they aim to secure a spot in Europe.
