La Liga: Celta Vigo vs Barcelona Live

Preview: Celta Vigo vs Barcelona

Barcelona will aim to get back to winning in La Liga when Celta Vigo vs Barcelona comes off at the Estadio Municipal de Balaidos on Saturday evening. Barcelona drew 3-3 with Granada in their previous match, while Celta Vigo lost 3-2 to Getafe in their last La Liga game.

Celta Vigo has not played outside of Spain’s top division since the 2011-12 season, making it unlikely for them to be relegated this season. Despite their recent finishes of eighth, 11th, and 13th in the last three seasons, they have struggled this season with four wins, eight draws, and 12 losses in 24 matches, accumulating only 20 points. Currently in 17th place, they are three points ahead of 18th-placed Cadiz, and the poor performances of teams below them have prevented them from falling into the relegation zone. Although they have lost three of their last four matches, including a 3-2 defeat against Getafe, they did secure a 3-0 win against Osasuna earlier in the month.

Barcelona recently had an exciting 3-3 draw with Granada, who were in 19th place. Despite Granada leading 3-2 in the 66th minute, Barcelona managed to secure a draw with Lamine Yamal’s second goal in the 80th minute. Barcelona is currently in third place in the table, three points ahead of Atletico Madrid, but they are significantly behind the leaders Real Madrid by 10 points.

Barca has earned seven points in their last three league matches since Xavi announced he would step down as head coach at the end of the season. While winning the La Liga title seems unlikely this season, Barca is still active in the Champions League and is getting ready to face Napoli in the last-16 clash.

Despite facing challenges this season, Barca has remained undefeated in La Liga away matches, with six draws and five wins out of 11 games, while their three league losses occurred at their temporary home, Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.

Head-to-head

Prediction

Barca has maintained an undefeated record away from home in the league this season, ranking third in La Liga. On the other hand, Celta has one of the worst home records. Although Celta managed to defeat Barcelona 2-1 in their last meeting, it is likely that Xavi’s team will secure a victory in this match.
